Level 2 Non-Commissioned Security Officer

Course Time: 6 Hours (State Mandate)

 

Includes: All course material, Level 2 Training Manual, issuance of course completion certificate to successful students.

 

Description: This course covers the required State approved curriculum required by the Texas Department of Public Safety-Private Security Bureau in order to certify an officer as having completed a course of study for Level 2 training accordance with Chapter 1702 of the Texas Occupation Code.

 

Age: 18 Years of Age, Minimum

Level 1 training has been repealed by the Texas Department of Public Safety-Private Security Bureau, administration rules as of February 1st, 2010. 

Level 3 Commissioned Security Officer

Course Time: 40 Hours (State Mandate)

 

Includes: All course material, use of Academy Firearms, Level 3 Training Manual, issuance of course completion certificate to successful students.

 

Description: This course covers the required State approved curriculum required by the Texas Department of Public Safety-Private Security Bureau in order to certify an officer as having completed a course of study for Level 3 training accordance with Chapter 1702 of the Texas Occupation Code.

 

Age: 18 Years of Age, Minimum

 

*** IMPORTANT INFO***

Effective December 1st, 2011 the Level 3 Security Commissioned Course will be increased from a 30 hour training course to a 40 hour training course. The change was mandate by Texas Administrative Code Rule 35.141. If you are interested in becoming an armed commissioned security officer you will be required to attend 40 hours of classroom, firearms & defensive tactics training in accordance with the rules set forth in Chapter 1702 of the Texas Occupations Code.

Level 3 Commissioned Security Officer Continuing & Re-qualification 

Course Time: 6 Hours (State Mandate)

 

Includes: All course material, use of Academy Firearms, Level 3 Requalification Manual, issuance of course completion certificate to successful students.

 

Description: This course covers the required State approved curriculum required by the Texas Department of Public Safety-Private Security Bureau in order to requalify a previously Level 3 Commissioned Officer training in accordance with Chapter 1702 of the Texas Occupations Code.

 

Age: 18 Years of Age, Minimum

Level 4 Personal Protection Officer

Course Time: 21 Hours

 

Includes: All course material, use of Academy Firearms, Level 4 Training Manual, issuance of two course completion certificates to successful students.

 

Description: This course covers the required State Approved curriculum required by the Texas Department of Public Safety-Private Security Bureau in order to certify an officer having completed a course of study for Level 4 training in accordance with Chapter 1702 of the Texas Occupations Code. Each successful student will be awarded two certificates of completion. A Level 4 and Firearms Proficiency Certificates.

 

Age: 21 Years of Age (at the time of your application to the Board)

This course includes instruction on the following topics: Escape/Evade Training, Preplanning Routes and Alternatives, Travel Considerations, Profiling your Principal, Awareness Skills Training, State Licensing Requirements, Pocket Cards, Requirements to be a Commissioned Personal Protection Officer (Bodyguard) in Texas, Licensing of Companies, Violations by Commissioned Officers and Personal Protection Officers, Standards of Conduct, Function of Personal Protection Officers, Arrest Authority, Article 14.01 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 18.16 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Chapter 42.01 of Texas Penal Code, Chapter 9 Use of Deadly Force, Use of Force Concepts, Issues Relating to the Concealed Handgun License, Field Note Taking, Report Writing, Response to Emergency Situations, Hazardous Materials, Fire Recognition and Response, Bomb Threats, Terrorist Response, Accidents Involving Serious Injury or Harm, Public Perception of a Security Officer and PPO Officer, Conflict Resolution, Force Options, Five Step Hard Style, Radio Procedures, Handcuffing Techniques, and Firearms Training.
